Minister of External Affairs of India, Sushma Swaraj has paid a courtesy call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. The meeting was held today at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, India.

During the call, India’s External Affairs Minister reiterated assurance of Indian friendship and mutual cooperation with the Maldives. Discussions were also held on strengthening traditionally strong and friendly relations through development cooperation, human resource development and people-to-people exchanges. Read more

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed have received a grand welcome from the Indian government. The ceremony was held this morning at the Presidential Palace Rashtrapati Bhavan.

President Solih and the First Lady were officially received at the Presidential Palace, by Indian President Ram Nath Kovind, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

On arrival of the President and First Lady at Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Indian Army fired a 21-gun salute. When President Solih ascended the saluting dais, presentations of arms was conducted and the national anthems of the Maldives and India were played. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured that his administration is fully committed to providing the protection and legal cover that overseas investors need to develop their businesses in the Maldives. The President extended this assurance while meeting with members of the Indian business community this evening.

President Solih is currently on a State Visit to India, on the invitation of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The President is being accompanied by First Lady Fazna Ahmed, and a high-level delegation of government officials. Read more

The President is currently on a State Visit to India, on the invitation of the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Speaking at the function, President Solih underscored the importance of maintaining international cooperation in order to ensure the security of a small State such as the Maldives. He also assured that this administration will never risk the relations established with the international community. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has arrived in New Delhi, India this afternoon, on a State Visit being made on the invitation of the Prime Minister of India, His Excellency Narendra Modi. The President is hosted at Rashtrapati Bhavan as a guest of the President of India His Excellency Ram Nath Kovind.

First Lady Fazna Ahmed and a high level delegation of the Maldives’ government are accompanying the President on his visit.
