President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that his commitment to upholding certain principles for the sake of the Maldivian people has caused numerous challenges. The President made this remark while speaking at the function held this evening to mark the completion of three projects in Velidhoo Island of South Miladhummadulu Atoll.

In his speech, President Yameen noted that despite the challenges his administration has managed to achieve numerous developmental milestones. Apart from the projects undertaken in the islands, President Yameen especially highlighted the key projects carried out in the capital city Male’, such as the Sina-Male’ Bridge, the King Salman Mosque, the 25-storey Dharumavantha Hospital and Rasfannu Beach project.

Shedding light on the success of the country’s education sector, President Yameen also highlighted the world class achievements of Maldivian students in various international examinations. Moreover, the President emphasized the efforts made by the administration to improve the infrastructure resources of the education sector across the country. In this regard, he noted that within the past 4 years this administration has built a total of 774 classrooms.

Prior to the visit to Velidhoo, the President inaugurated the harbour in Innamaadhoo Island and Inguraidhoo Island this morning, attended the ceremony held to mark the completion of road development project in Meedhoo Island this afternoon and inaugurated Maafaru island’s airport and harbor this evening. The President also visited Maduvvari Island today.

Yesterday, President Yameen initiated the services of sewerage system in Alifushi Island, initiated the services of water and sewerage system in Hulhudhuffaaru Island and visited Ungoofaaru Island, and Dhuvaafaru Island.

President Yameen will conclude his tour and travel back to Male’ tomorrow morning.

At the ceremony held this evening, the President initiated the services of sewerage system, inaugurated clean water services, and marked the completion of shore protection project in the island.

Prior to the visit to Velidhoo, the President inaugurated the harbour in Innamaadhoo Island and Inguraidhoo Island this morning, attended the ceremony held to mark the completion of road development project in Meedhoo Island this afternoon and inaugurated Maafaru island’s airport and harbor this evening. The President also visited Maduvvari Island today.

During the ceremony, President Yameen unveiled the monument placed to inaugurate the island’s airport and harbour.

President Yameen is currently on a three-day visit to some islands of North Maalhosmadulu Atoll and South Miladhummadulu Atoll.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has visited Maduvvari Island of North Maalhosmadulu Atoll this evening, as part of his current visit to some islands of North Maalhosmadulu Atoll and South Miladhummadulu Atoll.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has stated that he would always put the country’s peace above all and that he would always uphold justice. He made this statement while addressing the public at the ceremony held to mark the completion of road development project in Meedhoo Island, North Maalhosmadulu Atoll this afternoon.

During the ceremony, President Yameen said that the only adversaries that stand in his way are the challenges faced in bringing the development that the Maldivian people deserve.

Continuing on, President Yameen pointed out that this administration has been able to reclaim more land area to Hulhumale´ in 9 weeks, in comparison to the land area reclaimed in 9 years during the initial Hulhumale´ development phases. The President also stated that despite the major developmental milestones this administration has been able to achieve, the opposition was in denial.

Speaking in this regard, President Yameen criticized the opposition for not cooperating with the government in reconvening the political dialogue between all parties, for the betterment of the people of Maldives. He also noted that the government has on 13 different occasions invited the opposition to the all-party talks.

Speaking further, the President urged all Maldivians to put forth national interest, and always prioritise the country’s peace and harmony.

President Yameen is currently on a three-day visit to some islands of North Maalhosmadulu Atoll and South Miladhummadulu Atoll.
