Ambassador H.E. Ahmed Mohamed met his counterpart from Bosnia and Herzegovina

New Delhi:  H.E. Ambassador Ahmed Mohamed met with  H.E. Mr. Sabit Subasic, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina at his office today.

During the meeting, both dignitaries discussed bilateral ties between the countries and possible collaboration at multilateral forums.

Ambassador H.E. Ahmed Mohamed also conveyed greetings and well wishes from His Excellency President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to the Government and the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Ambassador Designate of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Mr. Ashraf Shikhaliyev called on H.E. Ambassador Ahmed Mohammed at the Maldives Embassy in New Delhi.

At the meeting held this morning, both dignitaries underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.

At the meeting, Ambassador H.E. Ahmed Mohamed conveyed greetings and well wishes from His Excellency President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to the Government and the people of Azerbaijan.

 

Minister of Environment and Energy H.E. Thoriq Ibrahim meets with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan

The Minister of Environment and Energy, His Excellency Thoriq Ibrahim on his visit to the Central Asian region as Special Envoy of the President of Maldives His Excellency Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, today arrived in Kazakhstan and met with His Excellency Kairat Abdrakhmanov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.

At the meeting held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kazakhstan this morning, both Ministers underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries and in this regard, agreed to collaborate on areas of tourism, education, environment, climate change and energy.

At the meeting, Minister Thorig conveyed greetings and well wishes from His Excellency President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom to the Government and the people of Kazakhstan and hailed Kazakhstan’s active role and contribution to the international multilateral system. Minister Abdrakhmanov expressed support to the priorities pursued by the Maldives towards promoting multilateralism and its active engagement at the United Nations.

Minister Thoriq is accompanied by Mr. Ahmed Suzil, Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Maldives and Central African Republic establish diplomatic relations

The Republic of Maldives and the Central African Republic have formally established diplomatic relations on 24 May 2018.

The Joint Communiqué formalising diplomatic relations between the two countries was signed on behalf of the Government of Maldives by His Excellency Dr. Ali Naseer Mohamed, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations and on behalf of the Government of Central African Republic by Her Excellency Ambroisine Kpongo, Permanent Representative of the Central African Republic to the United Nations. The joint communiqué was signed at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Maldives to the United Nations.

With the signing of diplomatic relations with Central African Republic, the Maldives has diplomatic relations with 169 countries.

The Central African Republic is one of the largest countries in central Africa. It has a population of approximately 4.6 million. The two countries collaborate in the international arena, within the framework of the United Nations, and other international organisations, even prior to the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Minister Thoriq Ibrahim Meets with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan

The Minister of Environment and Energy, His Excellency Mr. Thoriq Ibrahim who is visiting Turkmenistan as a Special Envoy of His Excellency the President of Maldives has today met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, His Excellency Rasit Meredov.

At the meeting held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Minister Thoriq conveyed greetings and well wishes from His Excellency Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, President of the Republic of Maldives, to the Government and the people of Turkmenistan. Minister Thoriq also expressed appreciation for the opportunity and the generous courtesy extended by the Government of Turkmenistan to the Minister and his delegation.

Both Ministers had a fruitful discussion to strengthen the close bilateral ties that has existed for over 25 years. The Ministers also exchanged views in intensifying cooperation in economic, environment and social sectors. Minister Meredov, supported the ideals

the Maldives presents in the international sphere and highlighted that climate change, sustainable development and counterterrorism are areas for collaboration between the two countries and issues that that Turkmenistan also prioritize and actively participates at the United Nations.

Minister Thoriq is accompanied by Mr. Ahmed Suzil, Assistant Director at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
